Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership are proudly sponsoring the Sports Award at this year?s Sligo People of the Year Awards. These Awards, organised by Rehab and Sligo Lions Club, take place in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Sligo on Friday 28th September.
The Sligo People of the Year Awards ceremony celebrates the county?s most inspiring people; provide an opportunity to shine a light on real-life heroes around the county, telling stories of courage, perseverance, generosity and achievement. The event will also be a highlight of the Sligo social calendar. These Awards are special, because the winners are all nominated by ordinary people - now is the time to get nominating and ensure your Sports Person of the Year is in with a chance!
Is there someone in your Sporting Organisation who has gone the extra mile in the promotion of sport on or off the field? This Award is not just confined to sports stars, it is open to those who organise community sporting events or train teams/ individuals, that promote physical activity or people who volunteer in sport, run clubs, maintain facilities etc.
We are looking for you to nominate deserving members of your Sporting Organisation. The only criteria necessary to be considered for an award, is that the individual in actively involved in promoting and/or participating in sports in Co. Sligo.
The winners of the People of the Year Awards are nominated by the public using the Nomination Forms printed in The Sligo Champion newspaper. This is then finalised by a panel of judges. Nomination forms are printed in the current edition of The Sligo Champion and for the next two weeks.
Closing date for completed nomination forms, which must be returned to Sligo Champion, Sligo People of the Year Awards, Box No SL974P, is Friday 24th August, 2012.
